I am so excited to share this fun summer recipe with you today! I adore chocolate and peanut butter together…as well as peanut butter and jelly…so if you do too, you will LOVE this recipe (but even if you don’t, this recipe is SUPER customizable!). It’s the perfect summer snack of healthy dessert, and a kid-friendly recipe too! Have them help you make this recipe…it’s so simple and fun to make! ?
While I definitely eat ice cream year-round (the most common recipe I make is this coconut milk vanilla ice cream), I especially love frozen desserts in the summer! ? if you’re looking for some homemade ice cream/frozen yogurt recipes, here are some ideas already on the blog:
Ice Cream Recipes
Strawberry Peanut Butter Ice Cream almost forgot about this recipe…haven’t made it in almost two years!! But love that it’s made with fruit and a no-churn recipe
Chocolate Peanut Butter Cup Ice Cream
Maple Pecan Ice Cream-no churn!
Double Chocolate Caramel Chunk Ice Cream-no churn!
Peppermint Ice Cream -no churn!
Goodness, to be honest I completely forgot how many yummy ice cream recipes I have up on the blog! Now I’m excited to go make many of these again soon. ?
Anyways, while this frozen yogurt bark isn’t exactly ice cream, it IS a cold, frozen delicious treat! The best part is the recipe only takes a few minutes to make total (seriously), and what’s even more fun is that this recipe is SUPER customizable to make. There are endless topping options so if you aren’t sure about the toppings I used…you can absolutely switch it up.
Ingredients and Substitution Ideas
Greek Yogurt
I personally recommend Greek yogurt for the thicker texture, and I haven’t tested with plain yogurt (to be honest, I only ever buy Greek yogurt!). You can definitely try using plain (not Greek) yogurt though. I personally used vanilla Greek yogurt for this recipe, but you can also use unsweetened/plain Greek yogurt and add honey or pure maple syrup to taste. And, if you really want to get crazy you can use a flavored yogurt base other than vanilla such as strawberry, blueberry, etc. Feel free to get creative here!
One last note: I typically like to use either a 2% or full-fat Greek yogurt for the creamiest taste and texture! The yogurt I use is thick (if you use non-Greek yogurt it may be a bit too thin!). Using non-fat yogurt will work, but it will result in a more icy texture.
Berries
I used raspberries on top of this yogurt bark, but other pretty/yummy/delicious ideas would be strawberries, blueberries, sliced bananas, etc. Of course, there’s nothing saying you HAVE to add fruit too, if you’d prefer just peanut butter and chocolate flavors!
Peanut Butter
My one true love. ? But seriously, I eat peanut butter in some way/form every.single.day. I love peanut butter and chocolate together, as well as peanut butter and jelly. Peanut butter in cookies, peanut butter in ice cream, protein bites, energy bites, copy-cat RX nut butter, etc. While I drizzled peanut butter as one of the toppings for this frozen yogurt bark, you absolutely can use a different nut butter or omit the nut butter completely! However, I highly recommend trying peanut butter or another nut butter at least once when making this frozen yogurt bark. ?
Chocolate
I’m sure by now that you know I love chocolate and also eat it daily. ? I used a super simple, 3-ingredient homemade chocolate sauce on this frozen yogurt bark, but another delicious option is simply using melted chocolate chips or a chocolate bar! The homemade chocolate sauce is made with coconut oil, cocoa powder, and pure maple syrup! I also like adding sea salt, to taste as I love salted chocolate and thinks it brings the flavors all together more.
Other Topping Ideas
As I’ve mentioned, there are so many topping ideas to make this frozen yogurt bark to your personal taste, preference, and what you have on hand! I love peanut butter, chocolate, and berries, but other ideas could be:
-sliced bananas with peanut butter and chocolate
-peaches and cream version using chopped or thinly sliced peaches
-chocolate cherry
-homemade salted caramel, chocolate sauce in recipe below or melted chocolate chips, and peanuts for a snicker’s version
-red, white and blue patriotic theme using blueberries and strawberries in an American flag or design shape
-tropical version with pineapple and/or mango and shredded toasted coconut to top
Plus so much more! ? I’d love to hear your combination ideas in the comments below for more ideas and inspiration!
How to Make Frozen Yogurt Bark
